Pres spox: Russia hopes for consensus over oil production freeze
MOSCOW, Nov 1 (PRIME) -- The majority of oil producing countries have mostly common positions on the oil production freeze and Russia hopes that further consultations will allow them to reach a consensus, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Tuesday.
“Work in this direction continues. We can certainly say that positions of the majority of the countries are similar to a great extent. Work will be continued. In this case we certainly hope for a consensus in this sphere,” he said.
OPEC agreed to limit daily oil output at 32.5–33.0 million barrels at an informal meeting in Algeria in September. The ceilings for each country will be defined at the organization’s next official meeting on November 30 in Vienna. President Vladimir Putin said earlier that Russia is ready to join OPEC in a freeze of oil production, if an agreement is reached.
